Time-Honored Designs was officially started in October, 2004 by Angela and James Overman of Derry, New Hampshire. While James and Angela have only been married a few years, they have been friends and working together for 10+ in the high-tech industry. They work very well together and this business is another example of their fine partnership.

Angela's life experiences have varied greatly. She didn't do very well in school because she was bored most of the time. She floundered to find a career. In her mid-20's she finally went back to college and got lots of degrees, most of them completely useless , like a degree in Liberal Arts and another in Russian. Although she finally decided to master in Systems Analysis and spent about 10 or so years focusing on Software/Hardware Quality Assurance.  In December 2006 she finally left high-tech and now works full-time trying to build Time-Honored Designs. Angela handles the day-to-day operations of the business. She also does the design work, and runs the laser.
James has decades of experience in the software industry, starting as a technician and working his way up the ranks to principal engineer. Over the past several years James has focused on Build and Release of software. Although he focuses on Release Engineering, he has proven himself to be a valuable asset because of his ability to multi-task and his ability to work competently doing anything from IT work to installing telephone systems. James tinkered with wood working most of his life, learning from his father and uncle. James currently works a few hours a week for THD and his primary responsibilities are IT, milling wood, process development, and all-around go-to guy for all kinds of trivial information.
Molly and Harry just offer moral support and friendship.

A number of people have asked where we the got the idea for Time-Honored Designs. Angela had always wanted to start a family business. She looked into everything from a bowling alley to a campground to a dog kennel. Then, in February 2004 they installed new wood flooring in their house. In front of the fire place they had installed 3 wood compass rose inlays. Also, at some point along the way James, who is a prolific reader, was telling Angela about this "new" type of printer that would "print" on things like glass and could even cut wood. That's when the idea was born. Angela realized it might be possible to cut wood to create very intricate inlay made of solid domestic and exotic hardwoods. So we started shopping for one of these fancy "printers" and we put an addition on our house so that we had space to run the business out of our home.

Working strictly with wood is the long-term goal of the business. Specifically, we want to create custom interior architectural details, such as custom wood floor inlays, borders, signage, custom inlay. But for now, the Overman family is having a fantastic time creating unique pieces of art for you.
