Time-Honored Designs was officially started in October, 2004 by Angela and James Overman of Derry, New Hampshire. While James and Angela have only been married a few years, they have been friends and working together for 10+ in the high-tech industry. They work very well together and this business is another example of their fine partnership.
A number of people have asked where we the got the idea for Time-Honored Designs. Angela had always wanted to start a family business. She looked into everything from a bowling alley to a campground to a dog kennel. Then, in February 2004 they installed new wood flooring in their house. In front of the fire place they had installed 3 wood compass rose inlays. Also, at some point along the way James, who is a prolific reader, was telling Angela about this "new" type of printer that would "print" on things like glass and could even cut wood. That's when the idea was born. Angela realized it might be possible to cut wood to create very intricate inlay made of solid domestic and exotic hardwoods. So we started shopping for one of these fancy "printers" and we put an addition on our house so that we had space to run the business out of our home. Working strictly with wood is the long-term goal of the business. Specifically, we want to create custom interior architectural details, such as custom wood floor inlays, borders, signage, custom inlay. But for now, the Overman family is having a fantastic time creating unique pieces of art for you. |
